Digital Tragedy strikes Euphonic Dissonance

Brian brings terrible news from inside the Euphonic Dissonance recording studio.

Somehow we have lost the multi-track master for the song Black & White. It's our tribute song to David Bowie referencing his popular 1969 song Space Oddity . In our song Major Tom finally returns to earth after some 30 years in space.

Yesterday I was going to remaster this particular track only to find out I couldn't find it on the harddrive. After feverishly searching our database I've determined that it just doesn't exist anymore. Probably a simple user error that accidentally deleted the file. The last time the file had been accessed was way back in 2007 and our back-up only goes back one year.

What does this all mean? Well, we obviously have the original finished song or I wouldn't have been able to post it into this blog for your listening pleasure. However, it's the original Sonar files that have been deleted so now we have no way of fixing the mix, changing vocals or editing guitar parts. Looks like this on the computer -

It gives us the ability to manipulate each individual part of the song and in the case of "Black & White" we can no longer do that.

ALL IS NOT LOST!!! This has been a lesson in learning to let go and understanding how to work with what we still have. We still have the basic music bed that contains the drums and probably bass part of the song. Someday we'll be able to build on that and basically recreate the song. Also, before the tracks were lost we created a live mix so we will be able to perform this song in our live shows. It is a setback but it will not stop us from completing the TECH MESSIAH album and we will continue forward with our stage show plans. We'll just have to come back to "Black & White" later and when we do I imagine it will sound quite different so enjoy this mix while you can because it's the only one like it in existence.

The crying is over and we move on. Thanks for being such supportive fans. We love you all.
