THE WALKING DEAD - can't turn away from this apocalypse drama

Brian of Euphonic Dissonance rambles on about one of his favorite subjects - ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE.

Zombies have finally reached our television in the form of an amazing series. With the creation of AMC's -THE WALKING DEAD we now get to see how insane people can really become in the event of zombie attack and the subsequent end of the world. Yeah, the show is a bit like a soap opera (Dark Shadows with zombies instead of vampires) but the catch with this soap opera - everyone dies!!! And yeah, they do come back from the dead - just like in soap operas - but in this instance they're frikkin' zombies and they want to feast on your succulent flesh.

Just a quick aside - in reference to Dark Shadows - I hear that Tim Burton is working on a Dark Shadows Movie. This movie is going to be amazing and that's why I should probably keep this short and just write about it in a separate blog. More on that later. Subscribe to our blog to keep up with stuff.

The Walking Dead gives us an inside look at the breakdown in social order that would occur if the world was overcome by zombie infestation. Fans of the old school George Romero style of slow-ass moving zombies will love this show. No tweaker zombies in this piece. Those things freak me out. It's much easier to shoot the slow zombies and I won't spill my drink while I'm doing it.

Recently Frank Darabont the producer/director of this great new series fired the entire writing staff. They're going into the second season with plans to assign scripts to freelancers. Seems this worked for the British show Torchwood. Well Frank - I hate to point this out to you but this is frikkin' AMERICA and your on a station who's acronym means American Movie Classics. Hearing this - I can't help but be worried for the future of this show.

We're working on a zombie inspired song that is as of yet untitled but we're going to give you a little taste with this rough draft of the lyrics. Enjoy.

Zombie Song - rough draft lyrics with tentative title

© 2010 - Euphonic Dissonance / Aromatone Records

Verse 1

A pattern of unusual illness
The news warned us
No one listened
A communicable disease they said
Person to person they said
Fluid - skin - inhalation they said
Symptoms within then minutes
We've gotta get out of here
Full infestation in fifteen
Gotta get out of here
Spread of contamination
Rise in investigation
Fever, fatigue, cough, chest pain
Then you change
It's happening everywhere
A nationwide scare
Bioelectric robotic microsurgery
Nano-machines in living cells
And I don't want to change
Don't want to be one of those things

Verse 2

Pack food, water, supplies
They run fast
Gotta keep it light
Only the things we need to survive
Flashlight, first aid kit, army knife
Lots of guns and ammo
Maybe steal us a sweet ride
Batteries and hand crank radio
Gotta stay alive
Mostly travel at night
Sneak around
Stay out of sight
We should have seen this coming
Should have seen the signs
Many gave themselves freely
To be redesigned
With promises of better lifestyle
Better health
Better living
We took it all in stride
Now we struggle to survive
Civilization takes a dive
Afraid I'm losing my mind
They try to get in from the outside
Move to higher ground
Find a place to hide
Hermetical seal
Board up the windows
Lock ourselves inside
Synthetic technology
Reprogram your thinking
Oh babe, I don't want to change
Don't want to be one of those things

Hook

Dance
I'm on fire
And this city will burn

Well, hope you like that rough draft of our new zombie song lyrics. Gotta work on a third verse for this song soon. Here's the track it will be associated with...

Well, that's all for now. So what do you think? Is THE WALKING DEAD  the best zombie series ever or do you think we should put an axe into it's head and put it down permanently?

Euphonic Dissonance re-imagines Ministry’s Psalm 69 Part 3

Brian hits us with an update on the remake of Ministry's song "Psalm 69" performed by Euphonic Dissonance.

We're making good progress and should definitely be able to make the contest deadline at the end of December. Some of the other songs have been put to the side until this little gem is finished. We're working on a deadline, sorry, other stuff will have to wait. We'll be entering this song into the Tunecore.com contest. Winner will be featured on the upcoming soundtrack for the movie FIX (a documentary on Ministry).

The track is truly starting to take form. Now you'll be listening to an entire song rather than just half of a song faded after the bridge. Isn't that exciting? Okay, settle down. Here's the song.

CLICK HERE to hear Ministry Remake PSALM 69 Draft 3

Yeah, we had some down time due to the holidays - god bless us everyone - but as you can hear we are right back at it and recording some great stuff. I gotta say - it's been a real pleasure to play guitar alongside a bass playing legend such as Paul Barker.

Don't know about you guys but we are really looking forward to seeing this movie. Subscribe to our blog so you can read the next installment and hear all the new things we've added to this amazing new song featuring original samples of Ministry's PSALM 69.

Euphonic Dissonance re-imagines Ministry's Psalm 69

Great news. Euphonic Dissonance will be working on a re-thinking of Ministry's song "Psalm 69". We're going to be submitting our little tidbit into this fine contest put together by Tunecore and Ministry. We are so frikkin' pumped about this.

Paul Barker (bass guitarist, producer and engineer for Ministry) is providing bass tracks and all the samples for producing the song. He'll also be judging the contest. Our stuff is going to be heard by one of the founding members of Ministry whether we win or not - again folks - THIS IS HUGE!!!! If we win the contest our song will be included on the companion album to the film.

Here is the original song and corresponding video.

If video not displayed - CLICK HERE to hear Ministry's PSALM 69

So here is a sample of the track that we are currently working on for the contest. It's very rough but should give you a feel for where this is going.

CLICK HERE TO HEAR - Euphonic Dissonance / Ministry Remake Psalm 69 - rough draft 1

Sorry about that chaotic ending to the song. If you actually made it to the end there is a chaotic little mistake that's quite loud and abrasive. Well, that's all for now. I imagine you'll hear more on our progress very soon. So, Ministry fans - what's your favorite Ministry song?

The Admiral Twin Drive-In Theater in Tulsa, Oklahoma burns and TMZ gets the story

Brian of Euphonic Dissonance gives us news on the loss of the historic ADMIRAL TWIN DRIVE-IN in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

TMZ gave the Admiral Twin Drive-In the press attention it needed after fire destroyed this historic landmark where the 1983 movie THE OUTSIDERS (starring Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Ralph Macchio, and Diane Lane) was filmed. Okay, it was really TMZ.com - but that's still amazing. This may be the best publicity this old theater gets - so make sure you go to the blog and post a comment showing your support for the Historic Admiral Twin Drive-In. Here's the blog entry...

Movie Theater Playing 'Last Exorcism' Burns Down

A drive-in movie theater in Oklahoma burned down yesterday -- was it arson, a freak accident or the work of ... the devil?

See, this Tulsa landmark -- The Admiral Twin, which opened in 1951 -- was playing "The Last Exorcism." It was also playing "Predators," but those aren't real -- so we can rule them out as a suspect.

Bill French, Tulsa Fire Department public information officer, told the Tulsa World on Friday night that investigators were still not sure how the blaze started.

TMZ contacted the Tulsa Fire Department to see if they suspected a demon, someone possessed by a demon or even Satan himself had something to do with the blaze.

So far, no response.

There are several comments on said blog from NATIVE TULSANS who seem to be upset that TMZ would poke fun at such a tragic situation. HELLO PEOPLE - it's TMZ for god's sake!!!??? That's what they do!!! They make fun of stuff. Try to use the blog for something positive you nimrods!!! If you're so upset about your precious tulsa landmark burning to the ground then you had better post a link where people can go to help save this much missed landmark. Something like this...

DONATE TO REBUILD THE ADMIRAL TWIN ON PAYPAL

or .... if you're in tulsa and want to hear some live and help the devastated drive-in - then you should go to this. Click the pic for a full size flyer.

Keep up the great work TMZ. It may have been a tragic event for those of us that live here but I've got to admit - your blog was very funny. Just keep doing what you do best. Tulsa will heal with time.

Welcome to OUR APOCALYPSE

Brian tells us our future. It's one where everyone wears crazy leather outfits.

Doing research on apocalypse movies and came across this great old poster.

What a great outfit. The law has never looked so good. All that tight leather. I so want to wear this outfit for a stage show.

Yes, before Mel Gibson came to be known as just a racist, hatemonger - he was an unknown and upcoming actor. This is the movie that made his career.

Mad Max is a 1979 Australian dystopian action film directed by George Miller and written by Miller and Byron Kennedy. The film's starring role is played by the then relatively unknown Mel Gibson. Its narrative based around the traditional western genre, Mad Max tells a story of breakdown of society, murder, and vengeance. It became a top-grossing Australian film and has been credited for further opening up the global market to Australian New Wave films. The film was also notable for being the first Australian film to be shot with a widescreen anamorphic lens. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_Max)

If you like apocalypse movies and you haven't seen this movie then you are missing out. This started the triology. The next two movies are THE ROAD WARRIOR and MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME. Way to keep the titles consistent guys!!! According to wikipedia there is a fourth installment under production. I'm looking forward to seeing Mad Max 4: Fury Road.
Yeah, somehow I doubt Mel Gibson will be in this one. Not because he's too old but because he's a racist hatemonger.....and he's too old. Sorry Mel.... hatemonger.

Come on guys - just give Mel a small cameo in it somewhere. There were movie producers willing to use Paul Reubens (Pee Wee Herman) after masturbating publicly in an adult theater. However, somehow I see a big divide between being PUBLICLY RACIST and PUBLICLY PLEASURING YOURSELF!!! Call me crazy. Hollywood probably won't make that same distinction. Maybe they will just CG him in like they did Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator Salvation.

And you wonder why I want to see this world burn?

Maybe Pee Wee was watching a movie with these girls in the movie.

That's some good nerd toss-off material there. Seeing as how nerds rule the world - I imagine there's a lot of this going around. Has anyone found porn with Seven of Nine, Kathryn Janeway and T'Pol in a threesome? It's not for me - It's for a friend.

Here are some new designs we're working on for the TECH MESSIAH project. Can you guess what they are - or rather what they were before we photoshopped the hell out of them?

Expect to see this symbol in future productions from the Euphonic Dissonance Secret Lab of World Destruction.

Gunslinger Girl - Manga - Little Girls w/ Big Guns

Brian babbles about Manga: LITTLE GIRLS WITH BIG GUNS!!!!

Been watching an ongoing manga titled GUNSLINGER GIRL. Seen about 3 episodes so far and I gotta say - I'm loving it. LITTLE GIRLS WITH GUNS!!!! How can you not love that? I mean really?

Gunslinger_Girl

There are lots of bullets and great fight scenes. Frankly they could use more fight scenes cause the show gets kinda soap-operaesque at times but the fight scenes are just great enough to make up for it.

THE GIRL HAS A MECHANICAL BODY. HOWEVER, SHE IS STILL AN ADOLESCENT GIRL. That appropriately pops up next to the title so we will understand the plight of our young heroine. Series was released in 2008 so if you haven't seen this one you can watch all of the episodes on HULU.com Check it out and tell us what you think.

Best Wolverine Video Game Ever - Logan like he was meant to be

Brian of Euphonic Dissonance babbles on about his favorite comic book hero - Wolverine.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is hands down the best Wolverine video game to hit the market EVER. Why? Because it's so frikkin' bloody and violent that's why. That's the reason Wolverine fans are Wolverine fans. We get a giggle seeing people sliced open with razor sharp pointy things. There is no lack of blood in this game. If you're squeamish don't watch the following video!!!!! If you want to see Wolverine plunge his claws through a wall and clean into a guys head then watch the video cause you're in for a treat.

{If your computer is SUPER FAST you should raise the resolution from 360p to 720p. It looks so much better that way}

I wish the matching movie would have been that friggin' cool. Well, like the Rolling Stones said, "you can't always get what you want." Is Rob Zombie available to do a Wolverine movie? Then I might get my desired effect.

Now....yeah.....that was just a cut scene but there is no limit to the blood spilled via the SNIKTY SNIKT of claws in the game play. There is a move in the game called a quick kill that allows you to do terrible things to your enemies in the style of Wolverine in the comic. For instance ..... you can raise a guy over your head with one hand and gut him with your claws on the other hand ....... repeatedly. Here's a nice little video showing the Wolvie mayhem in action.

Now ..... if those videos don't convince you that this video game is worth picking up then I suppose you are one of those Wolverine fans that reads the comics for the love stories. Well, then this isn't really the game for you ... sorry. Everyone else needs to pick this one up. Make sure you get the UNCAGED edition because the other ones aren't nearly as violent. Just finished playing through it again and I just wish there were more characters to gut. Can we say expansion pack? Maybe when the next movie comes I'll get that wish. That would be magical.

Hopefully in the next post we'll have more music for you but until then here's a link that will take you to our iTunes page. Click it .... it's pretty.

Chef Ramsey Will Kick Your Cracker Ass !!!!!

Oh, Chef Ramsey - let me count the ways I love you. I would come up with a really large number.

For those of you that don't enjoy the show Hells Kitchen because you think Gordon Ramsey is to abusive - SCREW YOU!!! You obviously haven't worked in many kitchens....have you? This is often the way things are handled in a restaraunt kitchen. It's a high stress environment and people tend to crack. You're working around extremely hot equipment ... it's a million degrees in a kitchen ..... the ovens don't run cold for god's sake ..... you're racing the clock to get the food out to the customer .... you're sweating and rushing and suddenly you just want to friggin' explode!!!! That's what a commercial kitchen is like. It's nothing like your cozy little kitchen at home. Gordon Ramsey knows how to control that type of environment. It's either shape up right the fu*k now or get your ass out of his kitchen. I respect the man for what he does and judging for the restaurants he owns and the 3 or 4 shows he has on television .... he does it really well.

If you don't like all the cursing on the show ..... it's okay, this is America and in this part of the world we bleep that sh*t out. Cause here in America we don't like no wordy dirds on our programs. We also don't like no girls boobies or vagininie to be shown. However, it's perfectly okay to show gratuitous amounts of violence. We like that here in the good ol' USA - don't we? Hey, Chef Ramsey, next season you should seriously punch someone on your show right in the head .... oh no ..... better yet ...... pull a gun on the person and threaten to shoot them!!! Yes, that would friggin' rock!!!

Isn't that righteous? Little Chef Ramsey ... who thinks this stuff up? You internet people always keep me guessing with your mad cap antics. Well, I've had entirely too much coffee and I'm starting to ramble and make no sense to I'm shutting this blog down immediately. Thank you for joining us today and please support us by clicking on the link below and listening to our music on iTunes.  I'm so looking forward to the next episode of Hell's Kitchen - Long live Gordon Ramsey!!!

There Be Pirates On The Internet - Bittorrent Insanity

I've been doing a lot of reading about internet piracy and copyright infringement. As a musical artist these kind of things interest me. There are really good arguments for and against policing the net for said pirates.

I was reading about the legal battle that The Pirate Bay is currently involved in. They're a Swedish group of individuals that have a bittorrent website where you can find all kinds of copyrighted material that is free to download. Well .... it was there that I found an article about author Paulo Coelho aka Pirate Coelho.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulo_Coelho

He claims that posting his works on the internet for everyone to download actual increased his book sales from 3000 to one million in three years. Can this really be true? Well, if you read the wiki article he's no small fry. This guy knows his stuff and it's given me a lot of food for thought.

I believe that copyright is important in order to protect an artists property but at the same time the enforcement methods that are being used aren't working. YOU CAN'T STOP THE PIRACY!!! I strongly believe that to be true - that's why I typed it in all caps. Just as soon as they stop one website another one pops up. Suing an individual for millions of dollars doesn't impress anyone and the new method of trying to get the isp to do something isn't effective either.

What is the solution? Here's an idea for you - stop spending all your money on thwarting piracy and divert that money towards creating a great product that people will actually want to buy. Seems that these pirate sites are free publicity for these businesses and they are trying to shut them down. I believe that the majority of people on the internet aren't pirates. You have to have a lot of computer know-how to be a good internet pirate and most people don't have that knowledge. The small group of pirates downloads a ripped-off version and then tells all their non-pirate friends how great the book/movie/album is. WORD OF MOUTH. The pirate might try to explain to the non-pirate how to get it for free but the non-pirate is confused by all this tech talk and just downloads the book/movie/album from a legitimate site like iTunes. Looky there - they just made a sale. Funny how that works. Free friggin' advertising!!!!

This has led me to wonder if we should just post Euphonic Dissonance's music on a bittorrent site for free download. It worked well for Paulo - why can't it work for ED. If Euphonic Dissonance was more popular someone would rip our cd and put it out there anyway so why not beat them to the punch.

I really want to hear more opinions on this matter. Do you think that posting our songs for free would boost our sales? Has anyone heard of other success stories similar to Mr. Paulo Coelho?

X-men Origins Wolverine - Stupid Frikkin' Silly Bone Claws

I have a confession to make. I'm a huge fan of the X-Men character Wolverine. I have been collecting comics about him since childhood and that is primarily the only comic book I will read. I'm kinda a Wolverine snob in comic book reading circles. I'm the guy who pisses off all the other comic reading dorks because I think that Wolverine can kill all their favorite sissy ass characters in a fight to the death.

Ah, nerds rule the world!!!

It's true. Nerds now rule the world. Look at all the comic book based movies that are out. All the video game based movies. Are there any movies that aren't nerd based? Frikkin' Michael Bay is doing Transformer movies for god's sake. What kind of topsy turvy world is this that I'm living in?

I digress.

Bone claws!!!! They went and gave Wolverine bone-frikkin'-claws in the movie!!!

[caption id="attachment_100" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Wolverine With His Bone Claws He So Very Young"]Wolverine With His Bone Claws He So Very Young[/caption]

I hate BONE CLAWS!!! What kind of smeckpepper sauce were the producers of this movie on when they decided to give my favorite frikkin' character in the world of comics bone claws????!!!!! I've been reading Wolverine comics since the 1970's and this bone claw thing is a recent invention of the early 90's. It was jammed into the story to fill a hole. Before that readers were led to believe that Wolverine didn't have the claws until the Weapon X project (the part in the movie where they put all that cool metal onto his skeleton). We were led to believe that tube like structures were surgically installed into his forearm to house the blades. Here's some graphical representations to help you understand what the hell I'm babbling on about.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="290" caption="Wolverine Is On the Left - What's all that crazy stuff inside his arm?"]Wolverine Is On the Left - Whats all that crazy stuff inside his arm?[/caption]

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="640" caption="What's That On The Left? No Bone Claws Here."]Whats That On The Left? No Bone Claws Here.[/caption]

I rest my case. The bone claw thing is silly and pisses me off. When Marvel ran that story in the comic I wanted to go burn their building to the ground (it's okay Marvel...I've gotten better since then....I would never hurt Stan Lee....and you probably have more than one building).

Beyond that I've got other gripes but I'll leave them dormant for now.

The fight scenes were phenomenal. I could watch those over and over and over. The interaction between Victor Creed (Sabertooth) and Wolvy was off the charts. Hell, I even liked Gambit in this movie and I've never liked Gambit in the comics or animated cartoons. I'm glad the included the scene with Wolvy as a child. Kids around the world are pretending they are Wolverine right now.....Going through the silverware and making mommies good knives into Wolverine claws. Snikt!

[caption id="attachment_103" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Wolverine and Sabertooth Face Off"]Wolverine and Sabertooth Face Off[/caption]

Sarah is not a reader of the comic and she said the movie seemed to leave parts of the story out. I tend to agree with her. So many mixed emotions about this movie. It's so confusing. I need a drink.

I can't begin to tell you how happy I am to see a Wolverine movie made in my lifetime - but if I made it - well.....it would be better. NO - it would be perfect.

CSI - What Horatio Caine and Brian Have In Common

I know....I know.....in the past I've been known to say that there hasn't been anything good on television since MacGyver went off the air. I might have been exaggerating just a bit. I tend to do that.

I loves me some CSI. Specifically I loves me some CSI Miami - but I'll watch any of the shows. They are all quite good. I love CSI Miami because I enjoy David Caruso as Horatio Caine.

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="513" caption="Horatio Caine kicks ass"]Horatio Caine kicks ass[/caption]

What a badass!!!! What a badass with red hair!!!! I love the way he never looks the bad guys in the eye when he talks to them. He's always looking off into the distance - looking at something else when he talks to them. It seems to say "you're not important enough for me to even look at" or maybe "you're such scum I can't bear to look at you" or maybe still "I'm just doing this to make you paranioid - is it working?". Whatever it is I friggin' love it. I haven't been this excited about a tough guy character since Clint Eastwood did Dirty Harry.

The other thing I love about CSI - it's really quite gross. I love eating while I'm watching. Having dinner during CSI is a blast. Nothing like eating and watching some person having their chest split open. "Oh....what's that? Oh, is that puss coming out of that wound? Oh good lord - it squirted into that guys eye. Can you hand me the chips and dip?"

I hated to see William Peterson (Gil Grissom) leave the main show. He was kind of my favorite on that program. However, I'm extremely physced to see Laurence Fishburn (Ray Langston) fill his shoes. Wow, what a fenomanal actor. It will be interesting to watch his character develop.

Well, I'm going to go practice my Horatio Caine tough guy bit in front of the mirror now. Have to work on some of those tacky cop show sayings - the ones they always say after they bust the badguy. What was the one they used on the show last night? Oh yeah....now I remember.....

Badguy: I'll get away because my family will get me the best defense money can buy.

Horatio: The best defense is an honest life.

Oh Horatio - you're so zany.
